Fiber Therapy

Good for the soul, good for our health.  All that wool, another idea…

Felting is not my specialty…can you teach an old dog new tricks…is it worth the bother?…  maybe it’s just fiber therapy.  At least it gets me away from the computer for a little while and off the loom.  Fiber is fun and I certainly can’t spin all that I’ve got stored away.

First attempt yesterday, not exactly to my liking,
but very organic…

Today, I changed my technique
and mastered uniformity and delicacy…

Now, I’m not sure about durability or practicality, but it seems that’s what is sometimes the style.  After all, I make very delicate lattice scarves on the loom.  Who’s to say?  I’m still contemplating some finishing touches, but the simplicity is growing on me the more I play with them and shape them.  What do you think?

Feeling Fall-ish

To blog or not to blog?  Is that the question?  Looking for new areas to conquer on the web, or be conquered by.  Just moved into a new Studio & Gallery space, the summer is over and thoughts are turning to development and new projects.  Crisp Fall weather is here and soon the Winter holidays will be upon us.  Scarves and woolens are coming out.  Have you ever tried selling scarves and blankets in 90F weather?  It’s not that easy!  Weavers live for cooler weather.  The smell of wood smoke is in the air and cool nights demand warm hearths.  Currently, I’m working on rag-woven wood totes and log carriers to use up some of the odds and ends that came out of the closets during the move – old corduroy, wool, and cotton.  Re-cycle, re-purpose and re-use!
